Entry criteria for Australian applicants
Australian applicants are awarded the same University status as New Zealand citizens and permanent residents, and admission and selection is based on the relevant prior attainment.
All Australian applicants wanting to be admitted to The University of Auckland must have completed Year 12 (Higher School Certificate or equivalent) and should have gained an acceptable Interstate Transfer Index (ITI) score.
The ITI has a different name depending on the state in which you gained your Year 12 qualification:
- Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER) (WA, SA, NT and TAS)
- ENTER (VIC)
- UAI (ACT and NSW)
- OP (QLD)
Additional selection requirements such as a portfolio, audition and/or an interview may also be required for some programmes. Once admitted to the programme, you will be able to enrol in courses within your programme.
To find out more about ITI/OP scores and/or additional requirements, please call the University on 0800 61 62 63 (or +64 9 308 2386 for calls from outside New Zealand), or email admission@auckland.ac.nz.
Apply for admission by completing the online Application for Admission.
You are required to apply by the closing date specified for your chosen programme(s). The University will acknowledge receipt of your application by email. Once you have received the acknowledgement, you will need to supply certified copies of your Higher School Certificate (or equivalent), ITI score and evidence of your citizenship/residency status (birth certificate or passport).
