Bachelor of Property (BProp)

The Bachelor of Property prepares you with the academic background to enter any branch of the property profession in New Zealand or internationally.

The degree fulfils the academic requirements for membership of professional bodies such as:

  • The Valuers Registration Board
  • The Property Institute of New Zealand
  • The Real Estate Institute of New Zealand
  • The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Pathways into the BProp

Transfer and entry with a completed MIT diploma

If you have a completed MIT diploma (Level 6 or 7) you may:

  • Apply and gain entry with up to 75 points of credit towards the BProp (if you have passed courses with a B grade average)
  • Be considered for entry but will not be eligible for credit (if you have passed courses with less than a B grade average). List of MIT diplomas.

 

Entry with a partially completed MIT diploma

If you have a partially completed MIT diploma (Level 6 or 7) and a B grade average for passed courses, you will be considered for entry to the BProp. List of MIT diplomas.

 

Transfer with a partially completed MIT degree qualification

To transfer from MIT and complete the BProp at the University you must:

  • Have passed courses at MIT that can be credited towards the BProp. See Course equivalencies.
  • Have passed MIT courses with an average grade of B+ or higher.


Completing the University BProp

The BProp consists of 360 points, including 330 points from Parts I, II and III and 30 points from approved General Education courses. If you are a full-time student, the degree can be completed in three years. Part-time study options are also available.

The chart below will help you determine which MIT courses you can credit towards the University degree. Once you have established the courses, you are encouraged to discuss your programme plan with a student adviser.
