Learn about all the online career information and self-assessment tools available to you as a student or recent graduate of The University of Auckland.

You’ll need to check Auckland CareerHub regularly, or make sure you read the recent job postings in our monthly careers newsletter “Auckland CareerConnect”.
Please note: Auckland CareerHub is not in the current suite of tools made accessible through the ‘single signon’, so first time users will need to register.

University Careers Services has partnered with InterviewStream™ to offer the latest in virtual mock interview technology. This service will allow you to:
- conduct and record virtual mock interviews from any space with an internet connection and a webcam
- review practice interview recordings with structured self-assessment.
Click “Create Account” (Please use your University of Auckland email address)
Once on the InterviewStream™ home page, get started with the InterviewStream™ User Guide under “Helpful Resources”, as well as a video tutorial that walks you through the virtual mock interview process.
We encourage you to take advantage of this technology (now used by a number of the top US business schools) to gain both fresh insight and added competitive advantage via the service on your ‘soft’ presentation and interview skills.
You can use Vault Career Insider to:
- Download more than 50 career guides on industries such as banking, consulting, HR, marketing, technology and more.
- Research more than 4,000 employers, including top New Zealand and Australia-based employers like Air New Zealand, BNZ, Macquarie, Lend Lease, Woolworths and Rio Tinto, as well as large global employers like Microsoft, IBM and Procter & Gamble.
- Access 1,000 career advice articles on topics like CVs, cover letters, internships and more.
You'll need your UPI and password and you'll need to register/login to Career Insider.
Goinglobal country-specific career and employment database contains more than 80,000 pages of constantly-updated information on topics such as: work permit/visa regulations, resume writing guidelines and examples, employment trends, salary ranges, networking groups and cultural/interviewing advice. World-wide job openings, internship listings, and corporate profiles are also included.
Topics include:
- Job search resources
- Work permit/visa regulations
- County-specific resume/CV guidelines and examples
- Interview and cultural advice
- Employment outlook/industry trends
- Professional and social networking groups
You'll need your UPI and password.
Career Voyage is an Australian/NZ computer program that will help you identify types of work that match your interests and preferences.
The program:
- Produces an interest profile and list of job suggestions for you to research.
- Broadens your horizons by looking at a wide range of occupations.
- Helps you by confirming (or otherwise) your existing ideas.
- Provides back up suggestions.
- Suggests types of work not previously heard of or considered.
Career Voyage is only available on the computers in Room 126, The ClockTower. It is undertaken with guidance from a qualified Careers Consultant. You can book a Career Voyage appointment through Auckland CareerHub.
Pinpoint is a US computer program that suggests various careers for your consideration.
Pinpoint analyses your:
- Personality type (based on Jung's theory of psychological types, popularised by the Myers Briggs Type Indicator)
- Occupational personality code (based on Holland's theory of occupational themes)
- Interests
- Character traits
- Preferred activities
- Preferred work contexts, including values.
Pinpoint is only available on one public computer in Room 126, The ClockTower. It is recommended (but not essential) that you book a Pinpoint appointment with a Career Consultant through Auckland CareerHub.
CareerSearch is a bibliography of careers related resources.
It contains references to NZ and overseas books, articles, magazines, DVDs and weblinks on: career planning and options, career change, self assessment, skills, occupations, labour market, finding employers, vacancy sources, further study, networking, resumes, interview types and techniques, psychometric testing, the world of work, graduate career stories and more.
You can either browse a list of subjects or search by keyword. Many of the references are available in the University's General Library or in the New Zealand public library system.

We have a number of streamed videos available to students under license.
You can view these videos on any computer with a broadband internet connection.
You will need your UPI and password to watch the videos.
You can find answers to your careers questions on AskAuckland.
You can also use AskAuckland to ask us a question.
