Do any of these statements sound familiar?
- I feel nervous and guilty about eating.
- I find myself continually on a diet.
- I find myself constantly thinking about eating or not eating.
- I eat according to a set of rules that I have created and not according to when I feel
- hungry.
- I attempt to get rid of food by vomiting or taking laxatives.
- I starve myself for periods of time.
- I use weight loss medications and supplements inappropriately.
- I exercise excessively.
- I feel compelled to exercise even if I am tired, unwell, injured.
- I binge on food followed by feelings of anxiety, guilt or self-disgust.
- I do not feel able to eat until I have exercised.
- I feel that my body is never quite ‘right’.
- I feel terrified of gaining weight.
- I believe that everything would be alright if only I had the ‘ideal’ figure.
If so, come along to EDEN’s Drop-In service located in the University of Auckland Recreation Centre (room off foyer) to have an informal 30-minute chat.
Meet with a qualified and experienced EDEN staff member to:
- Share a bit about what is troubling you.
- Get some information.
- Identify your options.
- Consider the next steps.
Look out for the signs in the Recreation Centre foyer. Feel free to bring a support person if you’d like to.
