Message from Rodney Greaves

“Welcome - Nau mai, Haere mai.

“This welcome is extended to all Māori students, Pacific students and those interested in our service. We offer services within a spirit of whakawhanaungatanga (establishing meaningful relationships) with processes and values which flow from that. This whakawhanaungatanga extends to Pacific students as well as Māori.

“Nga mihi nui

"Ko Ngapuhi me Ngai te Rangi oku iwi

“I am a counsellor for Māori and Pacific students and look forward to being able to work alongside students who may find themselves 'unravelling' during their time here at University.

“This may include a whole range of different things, but largely those things that you find may be getting in the way of your ability to get where you want to go in your life are a good starting point. I am also able to assist with applications for assignment extensions and compassionate considerations.

“So if you find that you are experiencing these issues, you are most welcome to make an appointment with me.

“Some interests I am developing in this work include identity within the New Zealand context for Māori and Pacific people, wellbeing, and in particular mental wellbeing, and how that is interpreted for Māori and Pacific people practising with spirituality in mind. A further interest is the growing place of male leadership for both Māori and Pacific.”
