Logging on and NetAccount
NetAccount is the system used to access to the University's electronic environment, which includes Cecil, your EC Mail account, nDeva, Library databases, and the internet.
To access to the University's electronic environment, you must log in with your username and password.
- Username - this is your "NetID" (also known as your "UPI").
- Password - this is your University Of Auckland password.
Your NetID and password identify you to the computing systems when you log in. This is called authentication. If you are fully enrolled when you log in, your access to NetAccount is authorised. NetAccount also has a cost-recovery (money) component. NetAccount is used to manage your printing and photocopying balances.
Your NetID and password gives access to:
- nDeva
- internet
- Cecil
- Library resources
- computing laboratories
- EC Mail
Logging in to NetAccount also allows you to photocopy and print (in most of the University's print systems).
Are you new to The University of Auckland? Watch this video to find out what your NetID and Password are, what you can use them for and how you can change your password.
If you are a new student, we will have told you what your NetID and password are in your “Acceptance of Application letter”. You will have used them to enrol on nDeva.
If you don't have these details, you can swipe your Student ID card at one of the NetAccount printers that are located throughout the University.
Once you swipe your card, your NetID will be displayed on the top left-hand side of the monitor. Click on the job displayed as “Your new random password” inside the window of the monitor and click on the “Print” button. Your password is at the bottom of the sheet that prints out.
Printers are available in:
- Kate Edger Information Commons
- Grafton Information Commons
- Epsom Information Commons
- libraries
- faculty computing laboratories.
Alternatively, you can get your password from one of the IC Helpdesks at the City, Grafton or Epsom Campus. You must provide your Student ID card, passport or driver’s license.
Always protect your password, and keep it safe and private. Never disclose your password to anyone and do not write it down.
Your password is used to authenticate and authorise you for use of services. It is your responsibility.
Remember, at no time will any University representative ask you for your password.
