How can I pay my fees?

You can pay your fees via several methods, including:

  • In person at the Cashiers Office in the ClockTower
  • EFTPOS (please be aware of your bank's daily limits on transactions)
  • Student loan
  • Scholarship
  • Online through Student Services Online
  • Cheque
  • Bank transfer

When is the due date for fees payment?

You must pay fees by the due date stated on the statement or the first day of semester.

What happens if I don’t pay my fees on time?

Payment of your fees completes your enrolment process.

If you don’t pay your fees on time, there are several risks:

  • Your enrolment in your course(s) may be cancelled.
  • Your formal exam results notification may be withheld.
  • Re-enrolment may be declined.
  • The release of your academic record may be declined.
  • You may be excluded from the University.
  • Your degree or diploma certificate(s) may be withheld.
  • Your access to University services may be restricted.

What are the application fees?

Application fees are charged depending on the nature of the application. If you are a domestic applicant you may be required to pay a non-refundable fee on submission of an application. You must pay these regardless of whether your application is successful.

  • If your highest qualification (gained or attempted) is from an overseas secondary school (including International Baccalaureate) there is a fee of $NZ80.
  • If your highest qualification (gained or attempted) is from an overseas tertiary institution there is a fee is $NZ130.
  • If you are applying for academic credit for study carried out at another New Zealand tertiary institution there is a fee of $NZ80.
  • If you are applying under Discretionary Entrance or Special Admission, there is a fee is $NZ55.

How much will my course cost?

The University of Auckland charges fees on the basis of your course enrolment, rather than by programmes.

In addition to your tuition fees, you will pay a Student Service Fee and a Building Levy, which is charged on a per-point basis. A full time course of study is 120 points per year.

How long does it take to process my student loan application from StudyLink?

Applying for a student loan takes at least three to six weeks. We strongly advise you to apply early (November-December) for your loan and allowance for the following year.

I have completed my enrolment. When do I get my statement/invoice?

You can use Student Service Online to:

  • check your fees balance
  • create your own statement/invoice
  • pay your fees via credit card
  • request a tax invoice (if you need one for GST purposes).

I've requested a tax invoice but haven't received it. Why not?
You may not have received your tax invoice for one of the following reasons:

  1. You may not be enrolled into any course(s).
  2. Your mailing address may be incorrect. If your mailing address has changed, please update it through Student Service Online.

I’ve paid my fees, but it doesn't show on Student Services Online. What can I do?

If you have paid your fees, but the payment doesn’t show on Student Services Online, please complete the Student Financials Enquiry Form.

How do I contact StudyLink?

The StudyLink website has information on student finance. You can apply online and use MyStudyLink to check the status of your applications. Visit www.studylink.govt.nz.

How much will it cost me to live in Auckland while I study?

As a guide, you will need to allow NZ$15,000-$18,000 per year (about NZ$350-$450 per week) to cover your living costs, including accommodation, food and transport, but excluding your tuition fees and related study costs.

How do I apply for a student loan or allowance?

To apply for a student loan or allowance, visit the StudyLink website.

Student loans and allowances are administered through StudyLink, a division of the Ministry of Social Development. The University of Auckland's only official involvement with student loans and allowances is to verify your enrolment and/or fee information to StudyLink to enable them to assess your eligibility.

Why was my student loan declined?

There could be a variety of reasons why your student loan has been declined.

You can use MyStudyLink on the StudyLink website to check the status of your application. Visit http://www.studylink.govt.nz/.
