Job role: Responsible for the management of University Careers Services.

Profile: I have joined the University following a variety of management roles, most recently as Deputy Director, Student Services (including Careers) at Coventry University, in the UK. Prior to this I have led careers teams in the UK and Germany. I am married to Helen and have three daughters, all of whom are loving their time in New Zealand. Outside of work I am a rugby footballer, always keen to demonstrate the free-flowing, exciting back play for which we English are reknown…

Faculty liaison: I have particular responsibility for supporting the Faculty of Medical and Health Science and Tamaki Campus.

Profile: I have a Masters in Psychology, Graduate Diploma (Employee Relations) and a Graduate Certificate in Career Development. My background is in research, human resource management and administration and I have worked in a variety of private and public organizations in New Zealand and England.

Job role: Provision of careers guidance, advice, information and practical help to undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University of Auckland. To help students assess their values, interests, abilities and skills and to relate these to opportunities for employment, further study and training; to help students to make decisions, develop strategies, carry out career plans, present themselves effectively in applications and at interviews, and to cope with the transition from higher education to work.

Faculty liaison: I have particular responsibility for Nicai.

Profile: I have been at the University since 2000, and have recently joined University Careers Services from the Business School. I have a BA (Māori Studies), Post Graduate Diploma in Business (Māori Development) and Master of Management. My passion has been in the area of Māori Performing Arts; I have been a performer, teacher and choreographer for the last 30 years.

Profile: I have extensive experience in the social services and community sectors, and over the last 5 years have been working in the career development industry. I graduated in 2006 with the Graduate Certificate in Career Development, and work closely with the Pasifika staff and students at the University.

Profile: I have an MA, a Masters in Library and Information Studies and a Certificate in Management. I'm a trained librarian with varied experience in corporate libraries in government, private sector and local government.

Meet our Employer Liaison team

Bonnie (Bronwyn) Jackson

Job role: My role is to lead and manage the Employer Liaison team, ensuring the delivery of the Employer Liaison strategy and service delivery model. This relies on close collaboration with faculties and service divisions and maintaining strong relationships with employers.

Profile:  A remote mountain village in Pakistan or a tent in Sudan are probably more familiar to me than the iconic Clock Tower, however somewhere between those, I must have built some skills in relationship management, political minefields (and real ones) that has brought me to these doors. While I’ve worked in both the public and private sector, the not for profit has taught me most that no matter who we are, we can ‘make a difference’ in the lives of individuals, organisations and even nations.

I manage the Auckland CareerHub website, careers fairs, employer presentations and other activities such as on campus interviews.

Profile: I have a BA(Hons) in Fine Art and a Graduate Diploma in Careers Guidance. My background is in careers guidance, programme co-ordination and administration and I have worked in the education sector also public, private and non-profit organisations in the UK, Australia and previously for MIT in New Zealand.

Meet our Careers Assistant

Job Role: I provide initial advice and guidance to students to ensure that their needs are met by Careers Services. In addition, I provide support to the careers consultants and other staff.  I am also involved in liaising with academic and other staff to ensure the needs of students are identified and met.

Profile: After a career in recreation services management at both The University of Auckland and Auckland Regional Council, I retrained as a career practitioner and commenced working for Careers Services in January 2011. I have a BA (History), a Primary Teaching Diploma and a Graduate Certificate in Career Development. The best of careers advice I was ever given is “let your interests drive your competencies”.
