The Awards were established in 2007 and are funded by The University of Auckland.
The main purpose of the Awards is to assist students entering the University with no previous study towards an undergraduate degree, who have the potential to succeed at University and for whom the financial assistance would make a significant contribution to their financial needs.
Selection Criteria
- The Awards will be offered to students who are New Zealand citizens or permanent residents of over two years standing with no previous study towards an undergraduate degree, intending to enrol in a full-time undergraduate degree programme at The University of Auckland.
- The basis of selection will be academic merit, motivation to succeed at University and financial need.

How do students apply? Applications must be made online. Late applications cannot be accepted. **NOTE** Online application for this scholarship will open within ten working days.

Decision makers The Awards will be awarded by the University of Auckland Council upon the recommendation of a Selection Committee comprising the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) (or nominee), Pro Vice-Chancellor (Equal Opportunities) (or nominee), and three members of the academic staff.
How and when do students learn of the decision? Late February or early March in the year of the award.
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award? An Award may not be held concurrently with a University of Auckland Scholarship, a University of Auckland Chancellor's Award for Top Maori and Pacific Scholars or a University of Auckland Alumni Scholarship. However, it may be held with any other award or grant as long as a) the terms of that award or grant permit and b) the University of Auckland Council is informed and approves. As a condition of tenure of the Award, awardees will be required to undertake a full-time degree programme of study at The University of Auckland and maintain a grade point average of 3.00 (C+) in each year of study. The University of Auckland Council has the power to terminate or suspend an Award if it receives an unsatisfactory report on the progress of an awardee from the Director/Head of the Department in which the recipient is enrolled.
Additional Information- The Award's emolument will be paid in two instalments, one in the first, and one in the second semester.
- A student who has completed a Foundation programme, eg. TFC, CHSc is eligible to apply.
