Maclaurin Chapel

The Maclaurin Chapel complex is on the corner of Princes Street and Waterloo Quadrant. You can use the hall for prayer, study and relaxation, and have access to the books within the theological library. The hall can also be hired for meetings or baptisms, weddings, funerals, weekly services or annual services.

Catholic chaplain

The Catholic chaplain is Fr Bernie Thomas OFM.

He is stationed at Newman Hall, 16 Waterloo Quadrant. He works alongside the lay-chaplain Denis Tutaka as they minister to students and staff of The University of Auckland.

Fr Bernie and Denis are part of the Catholic chaplaincy team at Newman Hall with two other members who work in other tertiary institutes around Auckland.

  • Monday (Liturgy of the Office/Word)
  • Tuesday 12.10pm (free lunch served after Tuesday Mass)
  • Wednesday 12:10pm
  • Friday 1.10pm

Sacrament of Reconciliation an hour before or after Mass. Just approach any chaplain for assistance.

If you would like to offer a Mass for any particular intention (eg, birthday, anniversary, death, memorial), approach one of the chaplains and request it any time.

Muslim Prayer Space

The Muslim Prayer Space is available for University of Auckland staff members and students. The space hosts a separate area for both female and male worshippers.

Access is via the external staircase in the courtyard opposite the Chemistry building.

Please ensure that you are enrolled into papers before requesting access to the Muslim Prayer Space.

Access cards
If you have a department card, your department can activate your Prayer Space access for you. If you do not have a department card, you can get one from the Student Information Centre.

Tāmaki prayer rooms

Prayer rooms are available at the Tāmaki Innovation Campus and are for anyone from any religious denomination.
