Rules, terms and conditions

Any current University of Auckland student studying towards a 90-point or 120-point masters thesis or a doctorate is eligible to enter. (Must be a current student at time of entry and not have submitted their thesis).

Finalists will be required to agree to media exposure for their presentation and research.

Please note that the 2011 finals were filmed and are available to watch on The University of Auckland YouTube channel. Entrants accept that the 2012 finals will be filmed and made available on University social media sites.

• A single PowerPoint slide is permitted (no slide transitions are permitted).
• No additional electronic media (eg, sound and video files) are permitted.
• No additional props (eg, costumes, instruments) are permitted.
• Presentations are limited to three minutes maximum. Competitors exceeding three minutes will be disqualified.
• The decision of the adjudicating panel is final.
