Underage applicants
An underage applicant is an applicant who has not reached the age of 16 years by 31 December in the year preceding that in which admission is sought.
a) An underage applicant will be considered for admission to The University of Auckland if they show evidence of outstanding academic achievement, capability of university study and the maturity to handle the university environment.
b) Applicants will be expected to demonstrate academic ability well in excess of the minimum requirements for entrance and admission.
To be admitted to The University of Auckland, you must gain admission and be selected into a programme.
Applicants must contact the University to discuss their application before formally applying.

Thereafter, applicants must apply for admission and provide appropriate supporting documentation.
In addition to the standard supporting documentation requirements, underage applicants will be required to provide the following:
- Full academic history.
- Confidential reference from school principal (the Reference Form is available from the Student Information Centre).
Applicants will be required to attend an interview. You may attend the interview with a support person.
Applicants who have been declined admission may appeal the decision in writing to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).
