International opportunities for University staff
Staff members benefit from the University’s extensive international partnerships. Through our bilateral partners and network memberships, staff members are encouraged to attend international conferences and events, and have opportunities to carry out collaborative research, lecture at the University’s exchange partner institutions, conduct international benchmarking and share best practices with our partners around the world. Other opportunities include U21 fellowships for general and academic staff, participation in APRU research symposia and many other network opportunities.
UCD offers collaboration on U21 TLN Fellowship Programme
The U21 Teaching & Learning Network (TLN) has established a U21 TLN Staff Fellowship Programme to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and skills within the TLN and to encourage the sharing of best practice. The programme is designed to provide support to a range of academic and staff (including Directors of Teaching and Learning and Chairs of Department Teaching Committees) to travel to and undertake research at another U21 university in another country. This Programme aims to respond to the TLN’s Grand Challenges and begin to develop strategies in these areas. The focus of the visits should be on new educational methods, pedagogy and technologies. Staff will also have the opportunity to investigate and discuss administrative practices, including policy, systems and procedures in a U21 member university.
University College Dublin (UCD) is welcoming expressions of interest and queries from applicants for the U21 Fellowships whose interests are in broadly similar areas to the UCD Fellows. UCD has an active Fellowship in Teaching and Academic Development scheme in existence since 2007. These UCD Fellows have been working on individual and group projects whose themes are closely related to the Grand Challenges identified by the U21 TLN Steering Committee.
Details on the Fellows and their work can be found at http://www.ucd.ie/teaching/fellowships/.
UCD will offer subsidised on-campus accommodation to a successful U21 TLN Fellow for a study visit to UCD. A structured visiting programme will also be designed in consultation with a successful U21 Fellow, offering opportunities to work and share best practice with UCD’s own Fellows.
For initial queries, please email Professor Bairbre Redmond, Dean of Undergraduate Students & Deputy Registrar Teaching & Learning.

UN Blurring Boundaries Conference

Exploring WUN Opportunities for International Research Collaboration: Adapting to Climate Change
Opportunities exist for Auckland researchers to lead or participate in multilateral, transcontinental research collaborations under the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN)’s Adapting to Climate Change Global Challenge framework. These opportunities fall predominantly in the areas of: ocean acidification; reef systems and island vulnerability, the social dimensions of adapting to climate change; health and climate change; and wind and geothermal energy. A Pacific-specific focus provides a natural geographic context for these themes.
An invitation is extended to anyone with interests in the aforementioned areas to attend a forum to discuss and explore these opportunities (and any other relevant areas that attendees would like to discuss) on:
Monday 20th February 2012 1-3pm. Venue: Research Office, Rimu Room, Level 10, 49 Symonds Street.
The meeting, which will be chaired by Professor Glenn McGregor, will include a short presentation by Robyn Hill, International Research Developer/WUN Coordinator, on the WUN and the associated support available to researchers (financial and non financial).
For venue and refreshment purposes please RSVP to Lucy Chong, before the end of Friday 3rd February 2012.
For more information, please contact Robyn Hill, International Research Developer (Networks), Research Office.
