(Seminars)
20 July 2010

Venue: Room 222
Department of Mathematics seminar by Jean-Marie Aubry, University of Paris East.
Multifractals were introduced to model all sorts of phenomena, from fluid turbulence to finance etc. Once thought exceptional, they turned out to be generic (in the sense of prevalence or Baire categories) in many function spaces. In this talk I will present the latest results in that direction, including trace properties, and more generally explore the interplay between multifractal analysis and functional analysis.
Jean-Marie is planning to apply for the analysis position in the department.
All welcome!
