New Zealand Asia Institute seminar by Professor Masaya Shiraishi, Waseda University, Japan.
Dr Shiraishi is Professor of International Relations at Waseda’s Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies. His research interests focus on Japan’s relations with Southeast Asia, Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) policy towards the Mekong countries, and development cooperation in the Greater Mekong.
He has also studied extensively Vietnam’s history, culture, politics and external relations. Among his recent publications is “Japan and Reconstruction of Indochina” in Guy Faure’s New Dynamics between China and Japan in Asia (World Scientific Publishing, Singapore, 2010).
