Bacho Gogolashvili
Bacho Gogolashvili is an artist currently studying at Elam School of Fine Arts. His dreamlike paintings and experimental films are founded upon a sustained interest in spiritual imagery, and its place in contemporary society. Through their hazy and evocative depiction of unspecific Biblical scenes, Gogolashvili's paintings weave together his dual exploration of both narrative and the medium of painting itself. Born in Georgia, Gogolashvili's work reflects his relationship to his home country's cultural, religious, and artistic heritage from his position here in New Zealand. In addition to his study Gogolashvili teaches art to kindergarten level schoolchildren at a Steiner school.
