A Bioengineering research seminar by Dr Vijayaraghavan Rajagopal, Auckland Bioengineering Institute

Many studies have observed and reported changes in cardiac cell ultrastructure and organization in diseases such as diabetes and in heart failure. Advances in 3D microscopy techniques such as immuno-fluorescence and electron tomography are enabling scientists to get unprecedented access to the intricate details of the intracellular organization of cardiac cells. As such, it is now possible to integrate such high resolution structural information with functional data on ion-channel kinetics to develop a quantitative understanding of the relationships between structure and function at the sub-cellular scale. In this talk, I will be presenting a 3D computational modelling platform that enables us to bring together structural and functional information to develop an engineer's view of nature's design of cardiomyocytes.

This seminar has been cancelled

The seminar has been cancelled. Professor Michael Sacks will present his seminar, 'The biomechanics of native and engineered valvular tissues' at this time.
