Fudan University, Shanghai was established in 1905. In 2000, Fudan University merged with Shanghai Medical University and became a comprehensive and research-oriented university covering a wider range of academic disciplines, such as humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, management sciences and medical sciences etc.
Fudan University began to accept international students in 1952. In 2011, there were about 3800 long-term international students from 120 countries studying at Fudan University, and over 70% of them are studying undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programmes.
