Writers Week 2012 Guest Lecture Programme #1: Athfields, the Group and Long Live the Modern

Architecture guru Julia Gatley will discuss the writing process behind her new book Athfield Architects, which presents and analyses 50 years of architecture by Ian Athfield and the firm he founded in the 1960s. She will also reflect on the similarities and differences between writing books and editing them, with reference to her to edited books, Long Live the Modern: New Zealand’s New Architecture, 1904–1984 (2008) and Group Architects: Towards a New Zealand Architecture (2010).

Dr Julia Gatley is a senior lecturer in the School of Architecture and Planning at The University of Auckland. She teaches architectural history and architectural design.
