A concert of contemporary new art music by Auckland composers The Committee.
About The Committee:
The Committee was formed in October 2003 by a group of composers who were then studying at The University of Auckland School of Music. The raison d’être was to effect the performance of new compositions by emerging composers based in Auckland. Their first concert was held in April 2004, and since then they have produced ten concerts of new music in various locations around the Auckland CBD. These include five concerts of acoustic music in the Auckland University ClockTower foyer, a multimedia concert at The Kenneth Myers Centre, and a concert of electronic music at the School of Music Auditorium. While The Committee is primarily focused on promoting the work of emerging composers, they have also included works by established composers in their concerts. These include: Eve de Castro-Robinson, John Elmsly, Peter Scholes, James Gardiner, and Leonie Holmes.
