Get a taste for German theatre with this delightful family-friendly comedy. Directed by former GDC actor, Lucy Smith (Frau Walovski and Fleischer in ‘Sein oder Nichtsein’), and starring a large ensemble cast, ‘Currywurst Mit Pommes’ promises to satisfy your theatrical and cultural appetite.
‘Currywurst Mit Pommes’ is a string of comedic vignettes depicting the ordeals of Penny, a 60-year old food stand owner, as she encounters the frivolous shenanigans of over 50 unique characters. Not-so-holy nuns, "are we there yet" families, awkward ex-spouse encounters, wannabe actors and unlikely Casanovas all feature as they stop to rest and eat on the side of a German motorway.
The German Drama Company has been entertaining audiences with both original German plays and those which have been translated from English, since 1977. This year, a group of 10 students, some veteran GDC actors and others new to the company together depict over 50 different characters in a range of personalities - a mammoth task for any actor. The culmination of the experience and fresh ideas will be sure to make this year's production a huge hit!
