Strategic Plan 2005 -2012

The purpose of the Strategic Plan is to set out a vision of the University in 2012 and the key objectives which must be achieved if that vision is to be realised.

The Strategic Plan 2005-2012 is the key document in the University's cycle of planning, delivery and accountability. It forms the basis for annual planning and resource allocation as faculties and service divisions consider how they can best use the resources available to them to maximise progress towards the higher performance and international standing sought by the University.

The University of Auckland Strategic Plan 2005-2012 was approved by Council in August 2005, following extensive discussion, analysis and consultation with staff, students, alumni, and other friends of the University. At the time of its adoption, it was agreed that it would be reviewed after one year, allowing the University time to reflect on the strategic direction and objectives contained within the Plan.

On 21 August 2006, Council re-confirmed the Strategic Plan 2005-2012, with one amendment, as a fitting statement of the University’s strategic direction to 2012. That amendment (to Objective 13) is reflected in the updated versions available below:
