RICK PEARSON / Director, Pearson & Associates, Auckland
After graduating with an architecture degree from The University Auckland, Rick Pearson formed a partnership with Bill McKay. One of McKay & Pearson’s most acclaimed known projects was the design of the The 50s Show at the Auckland City Art Gallery in 1992. Building on this experience, Rick has established himself as one of New Zealand’s leading exhibition designers.
His firm, Pearson and Associates, has completed high-profile museum-based exhibitions and visitor centers, including the NZIA National Award-winning Treasures & Tales (1997) and Weird & Wonderful (2002) exhibitions at the Auckland Museum, and the recently completed Edith Winstone Blackwell Interpretive Center at the Goat Island Marine Reserve. The firm has also been involved with architectural design, such as the award-winning Rotoroa Exhibition Centre (2010), and heritage work, including the 2006 restoration (with Graeme Burgess) of the Colin McCahon Cottage in Titirangi.Pearson also has a strong commitment to education, having lectured and taught architectural design at many universities and technical colleges.
