Refunds for US Direct Loans Recipients
Refunds will be assessed in strict accordance with The University of Auckland’s policies outlined in the University of Auckland Calendar under the Academic Statutes and Regulations.
Please review the current University of Auckland Calendar for details.
The following is an addendum for students who are recipients of US federal loans who withdraw or delete their programme.
Deletions and withdrawal refund policy
- The US Financial Aid Coordinator must first make a determination as to whether any or all of the federal loan funds must first be returned to the US Department of Education before authorising any direct refund to a student.
- Exit counselling: A student who withdraws or deletes or graduates must complete exit counselling before The University of Auckland will determine if you are eligible for a refund.
Pro-rated refund calculations apply for all federal loan recipients who withdraw within 60% of the payment period. This may require the federal loan recipient (student) to pay back money to the US Government. If the University is required to return funds based on the actions of the student, the student will be charged for all costs incurred.
