Study Abroad or Exchange
Both programmes involve studying away from your home institution for one or two semesters, but there are important differences between the programmes.
Exchange programme
- Your home institution must be a University of Auckland partner through a formal exchange agreement
- You must be nominated for the program by the exchange coordinator of your home institution
- The University of Auckland must accept your application
- If selected, you remain enrolled with your home institution
- You continue to pay your home institution fees, and are exempt from University of Auckland tuition fees
- The courses you study may be credited towards your degree
- You apply for COPEX (Certificate of Proficiency - Exchange) at The University of Auckland
Study Abroad programme
If your home institution does not have a formal exchange agreement with the University of Auckland, or if the exchange numbers are unevenly balanced, you can apply to participate in the Study Abroad programme.
- You can study at The University of Auckland for one or two semesters
- You will pay fees to The University of Auckland
- You must check with your home institution's Study Abroad office regarding credit towards your home degree
- You may apply directly to The University of Auckland or through one of our overseas agents
- You apply for COPOS (Certificate of Proficiency - Overseas) at The University of Auckland
