Simon Fraser University was rated as Canada's best comprehensive university in the annual rankings of Canadian universities in Maclean's magazine in 2010 and has been consistently placed at or near the top of the publication's national evaluations.
Named after explorer Simon Fraser, SFU opened in 1965. Taking only 30 months to grow from the idea stage into an almost-completed campus with 2,500 students it was dubbed the "Instant University". The original campus has grown into three vibrant campuses in Burnaby, Vancouver and Surrey and SFU’s reputation has grown into one of innovative teaching, research, and community outreach.

Vancouver is the largest city in Western Canada, located at the southwestern corner of the province of British Columbia. Situated between the North Shore and coastal mountains and the edge of the Pacific ocean, Vancouver is one of North America's most beautiful cities, and was recently ranked as "the world's most desirable place to live" in a survey of 127 cities performed by the Economist magazine's Intelligence Unit.
The vibrant downtown core offers all of the amenities of an international destination -- from hundreds of restaurants and clubs, to countless parks and recreation facilities, to world-class entertainment and sporting events
Vancouver's natural surroundings offer limitless opportunities for outdoor pursuits, such as hiking and mountain biking in the spring and summer, and skiing at nearby Whistler-Blackcomb resort in winter.
