The university

The Faculty of Law at Western was founded in 1959, with a central mission: to equip students with the knowledge and skills to succeed and prosper in an ever-changing world.

Newcomers to Western Law join a wonderful scholarly and professional community. The university’s alumni now number over 4,500. Western Law graduates are making valuable contributions to society not only in the practice of law, but also in business, and in community and public service.

There are a number of things that make Western a special place to study law. Western's faculty members are regarded as among the finest legal scholars, researchers and teachers in the country. They are widely published, and are often quoted by the courts and others.

Working alongside the full-time faculty, are a number of adjunct professors — many of whom are their alumni — who add an invaluable "real life" flavor to the courses.

Another highlight in the curriculum is the long-established Small Group Program. The Small Group Program is designed to provide an interactive learning environment and to enable students to develop their skills in legal analysis, legal research and legal expression
