Accessible venues and car parks (City Campus)

How to find mobility and wheelchair accessible venues and car parks at the City Campus.

  • The Owen G Glenn building (12 Grafton Rd) is mobility and wheelchair accessible and has accessible toilets. Mobility parking spaces (spaces that are larger and nearer to access ways) are available within the building car park (16 Grafton Rd). A CCS mobility car parking permit is required to park in these spaces.
  • The Fale Pasifika (20 Wynyard St) is accessible via an access ramp at the rear of the building. It has accessible toilets nearby in the Centre for Pacific Studies building. Mobility parking is available in the Owen G Glenn building.
  • Certain areas of Old Government House are wheelchair accessible on the ground floor. The Vice Chancellor’s suite and Buttery bar area are not accessible to those with mobility impairments due to several stairs. There is no elevator in the building, and as a result the first floor of the building is not accessible to those using wheelchairs or with mobility impairments. OGH does not have accessible toilets. Mobility parking is available at the main gate car park at 5 Symonds St. This is an uncovered car park, accessed via a barrier arm next to the Old Choral Hall building.
  • The ClockTower (22 Princes St) is mobility and wheelchair accessible via a ramp off Princes St to the front door. There is one public elevator in the building. There are accessible toilets on the basement level only. Mobility parking is available at the main gate car park at 5 Symonds St.
  • The Conference Centre (22 Symonds St) is mobility and wheelchair accessible but does not have accessible writing tablets. There are accessible toilets within the Conference Centre. Mobility parking is available at the Owen G Glenn building or 5 Symonds St.
  • The Gus Fisher Gallery (Kenneth Myers Centre, 74 Shortland St) is not accessible from the front entrance steps for those with mobility impairments, but is accessible, with assistance, from a side entrance (then via an elevator to gallery). There is an accessible toilet; however assistance to open heavy doors may be required. One mobility parking space is available (shared with a delivery space) at 74 Shortland St. This is an uncovered space.
  • The Wharenui (the carved house which forms part of Waipapa Marae on Wynyard St) is accessible for wheelchair users from the front of the Wharenui. The Wharekai is accessible via a pathway behind the Wharenui or, with assistance, across grass. Please note: there are steps leading down to the main area of the Wharekai so this venue is only partially accessible once inside. The toilets are not accessible. Mobility parking is available at the Owen G Glenn building and on Wynyard St.
