St Jerome’s Laneway Festival - access information

The annual St Jerome’s Laneway Festival will take place across Albert Park, Princes and Alfred Streets on Auckland Anniversary Day, Monday 29 January 2018. Auckland Council are facilitating the arrangements for the event on behalf of the event organisers.

Key information 

  • The University will be closed on Auckland Anniversary Day, Monday 29 January as advised by the Vice Chancellor. This closure includes the Recreation Centre, Main General Library and the Kate Edger Information Commons.
  • Princes Street will be closed to vehicle traffic from 10pm Wednesday 24 January between Wellesley Street and Waterloo Quadrant. Access to Alfred St will also be affected. This closure is to enable the festival site to be set up.
  • The South end of Princes Street to Wellesley and Alfred Streets will be closed to vehicle traffic from midnight Friday 26 January.
  • A controlled vehicle entry point will operate at the intersection with Wellesley Street to permit authorised entry along Princes and Alfred Streets and along the Wellesley Street slip road toward Symonds Street. Access to carparks 36 and 40 will be available.
  • Fencing will be erected around the festival site including both the 100 and 300 sectors. Until the day of the festival, University facilities within the sectors will be accessible. 
  • On Auckland Anniversary Day entry to both the 100 and 300 sectors will be controlled by Security at Gate 2 next to B110 and at the steps between the Recreation Centre and B315. Unless prior approval has been authorised, entry within the zone will not be permitted. 
  • The South end of Princes Street and Alfred Street will be opened on Tuesday morning around 9am after the festival organisers clear the area. The North end of Princes Street will remain closed until pack-out is completed around 4pm Wednesday 31 January. Access thereafter will be available.

University Security will be will be available to assist on Anniversary Day should their help be required.
