Leading educationist Dr Sophie Tauwehe Tamati says employers should pay Te Reo speakers a premium.

Rewarding bilingual employees would be good for business and good for fostering the Māori language, she says.

Sophie, a senior lecturer in Education at the University of Auckland, invented Hika – a mobile phone app that translates English into Māori. (Watch the interview on Newsroom)
