The username you are using has been matched to an existing identity

For reasons of security and convenience it is important that you only have one identity record in the University system.  This page describes what you should do if you receive an error indicating that your user details appear to exist already in the system.

If you do receive this error, it will look like the example shown below:

What does this mean?

This normally occurs when you already have an account with the University of Auckland, and register again. If this happens, the accounts are often identified as being the same, and the message above is presented to you if you attempt to sign in using the newly registered account.
