The Treaty of Waitangi is New Zealand’s founding document and the University is committed to the rights and obligations articulated in the Treaty.

The University places particular emphasis on promoting Māori presence and participation in all aspects of University life and encouraging teaching, learning and research in a range of fields important to Māori.

The University offers all general and academic staff the opportunity to learn about the Treaty to broaden their understanding of its role in our present and future.
