Sunshine Coast

Our Volunteer Alumni Coordinator in the Sunshine Coast is Paul William-Smith.

VAC profile: Paul William-Smith (Bachelor of Town Planning, Bachelor of Arts)

Paul William-Smith is the Volunteer Alumni Coordinator for Australia's Sunshine Coast region.

Paul completed two undergraduate degrees at the University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Town Planning and a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Geography and Art History.

Soon after finishing his studies, Paul relocated to New South Wales, where he spent many years working for local and state governments in economic development and international business.

His experiences in international business still inspire him today. “Seeing creatives succeed globally has been a huge stimulus,” Paul explains. “I continue to attend and support business and tourism initiatives locally, sustainable city development planning and community engagement opportunities.”

In recent times, Paul and his wife have relocated to the beautiful Kawana Island. “We came to the Sunshine Coast area regularly for a number of years with our family to enjoy Mooloolaba, Noosa and warm winter breaks, and now we live here!”

He loves the sense of community as well as the pristine coast and national park areas. As a self-confessed kayaking and tai chi enthusiast, the Sunshine Coast is the perfect place for Paul to pursue to his passions.

His day job is based at the University of the Sunshine Coast, where he works as a Sessional Tutor in the Faculty of Arts, Business and Law. Paul loves getting to work with the students. “We are always learning, making the most of every opportunity in education,” he says.

Paul is keen to hear from alumni based in the Sunshine Coast.
