Our Volunteer Alumni Coordinator in Bahrain is Ahmed Al Rahma
VAC Profile: Ahmed Al Rahma (Bachelor of Commerce)
Ahmed came to the University of Auckland in 2008 as an international student from Bahrain. He studied a Certificate in Foundation Studies followed by a Bachelor of Commerce, double majoring in Finance and Accounting.
“My favourite memories were the days I used to play indoor soccer with friends and colleagues in the Sports Hall in the University’s Recreation Centre,” Ahmed recalls. “We used to book the hall for two or three hours with non-stop playing until the last minute of our booking.”
After four great years in Auckland, Ahmed returned to Bahrain to be with his family and begin his career. He now works as an Investment Analyst in Kanoo Capital, the investment arm of Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Group, one of the largest family-owned multinationals in the Middle East.
Ahmed’s role involves involves analyzing risks and performance of the group's investment portfolio, evaluating and monitoring potential investment managers and helping in the value creation for existing private equity investments. He loves how he is constantly exposed to new knowledge through his work.
In his downtime, Ahmed continues to play soccer with friends once or twice a week. He also enjoys reading, writing poetry and hanging out with his baby daughter. He plans to expand his horizons in the near future by undertaking a trek to Everest Base Camp and beginning a masters degree.
Ahmed is keen to hear from alumni based in Bahrain.
