Alumni living in Toronto and Ontario are invited to get in touch with our Volunteer Alumni Coordinator.
VAC profile: Jiani Wu (Bachelor of Commerce (Honours))
Jiani graduated with an Honours degree in Economics. In her undergraduate studies, she double majored in Economics and Marketing with an emphasis on microeconomics.
She has great memories of spending time with her classmates in the graduate lab. “It was a small group of us and we are friends even now, more than ten years after graduation!”
Once Jiani finished her postgraduate studies, she launched her career and started pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. A decade later she decided it was time for her next move.
“After working in institutional banking and my own e-commerce business, I was seeking a new challenge,” she explains. “Toronto fit all the criteria – English speaking, interesting but manageable culture shock and a city with a lot of diversity.”
Jiani currently works as a banking advisor with RBC Bank. One of her favourite things about Toronto is that different neighbourhoods such as Chinatown, Little Italy and Little Portugal are only a few minutes away. It’s also a hub for financial services and technology.
In her free time, Jiani is an avid traveller. She has been to over 20 countries and recently spent almost a year exploring Egypt, Jordan, Israel, India, Taiwan and Indonesia.
“I like history and I’m inspired to visit UNESCO sites,” Jiani says. “Every single trip challenges me to plan and handle difficult situations in unfamiliar settings.”
Jiani is keen to hear from alumni living in Toronto.
