Our Volunteer Alumni Coordinator in Kenya is Stephan Grabowski.
Stephan graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Marketing and International Business.
His favourite memories include meeting friends at the Recreation Centre to compare notes, grab a quick bite to eat and play some sport.
He moved to Kenya to take up a new role with the company he was working for at the time, Maersk Group. “I definitely never expected to be doing what I am now, or even moving to Africa!” Stephan says.
Stephan is currently a partner in a technology business which is commercialising ethanol as a cooking fuel across a number of developing countries. His company is providing customers with a cheaper cooking option and eliminating indoor air pollution. One of the most enjoyable things about his work is the chance to show the positive power companies can have on society.
Outside of work, you will find Stephan spending time on some kind of sport such as football, off-road motorbiking and crossfit.
He encourages current students to “always try to give the best account of yourself that you can, and opportunities will open up to you.”
Stephan is keen to hear from alumni living in Kenya.
