Bring freedom and independence to those living with dementia

Your help can enrich the lives of dementia Canterbury clients in West Coast/Buller, Kaikoura, Ashburton & North Canterbury regions.

Volunteering Canterbury aims to see people and communities prospering through volunteering, by matching willing volunteers with local not-for-profit community groups. Support from volunteers enables these groups to carry out their crucial work in the community. Whether you want to volunteer as an individual or within a group, they can connect you with the right people and help you make a difference!

One such group is Dementia Canterbury, who right now needs Volunteer Drivers to help transport their clients to and from social activities and support groups. The support and connection this provides enables people living with dementia to carry out full, meaningful lives, without restrictions on their freedom or independence. Volunteers need a full, clean drivers’ licence and a roadworthy car. Training and support are provided.
