Cooking for families in Canterbury

Ease the stress of cooking for a young family.

Volunteering Canterbury aims to see people and communities prospering through volunteering, by matching willing volunteers with local not-for-profit community groups. Support from volunteers enables these groups to carry out their crucial work in the community. Whether you want to volunteer as an individual or within a group, they can connect you with the right people and help you make a difference!

One such organisation is Bellyful, who cooks and delivers meals to families with newborn babies and families with young children who are struggling with illness, where there is little or no family or social support. Volunteers take part in a monthly ‘Cookathon’, to prepare, freeze and then deliver meals to families referred to Bellyful by health professionals, family and friends. No one needs to go through a stressful time without support!
