Call for papers

The Australian and New Zealand Society of the History of Medicine invites submissions from scholars at all career stages for their conference in December.

This biennial conference aims to reflect the diversity of the discipline of the history of health and medicine. They welcome papers from all areas of that history, including health systems, public health, Indigenous health, mental health, biography, hospital history and nursing history. They also welcome papers and panels relating to medical museums or exhibitions.

Keynote speakers include Professor Mark Jackson, Exeter University UK; Professor Christine Hallett, University of Hudderfield UK; Professor Naomi Rogers, Yale University USA and Dr Derek Dow University of Auckland NZ.

Submissions from scholars across the range of career stages are welcome, especially those from postgraduate and early career researchers. We offer competitive travel grants to postgraduate students to attend the conference.

The deadline for submission of abstracts has been extended to Friday 28 June 2019.
