Description

The objectives are to provide a socioeconomic profile of different language communities and to determine the socioeconomic characteristics of people who purport to be multilingual in two, three, or four such languages.

We use the NZ Census 1996–2013 to examine population patterns and trends, and the NZ Longitudinal Census 1996–2006 to follow specific cohorts – defined by their ethnicity and language use – over time.
