Welcome to the University of Auckland’s home in Tai Tokerau. Education is an opportunity for you and your family to learn and to teach others, opening new possibilities for understanding our world and our place in the world.

The Tai Tokerau Campus has been nestled in the heart of Whangarei for well over 24 years and each year our graduates proceed through the centre of Whangarei with great pride at the University’s only graduation ceremony to be held outside the Auckland region. There are exciting developments underway for our campus from 2017 that will prepare us better for our vision of Leading Learning, Changing Lives and our contribution to this in the 21st century.

The Tai Tokerau Campus is dedicated to providing a range of foundation and teaching programmes, in primary and Māori medium teaching, for those living in Northland. Our students come from all over the region and many start their study as an adult student. Whatever your situation, we can support your aspirations and help you gain your first university degree.

Our students and graduates contribute immensely to the education and wellbeing of children in Tai Tokerau. You will see a few of them profiled here and on our website. Many have extended their work within the Northland community in areas such as youth development and advocacy and support, demonstrating the diverse range of knowledge and skills that teachers bring, share and cultivate in our community.

Others have gone on to work in teaching positions overseas and other areas of the country. Your qualification from the University of Auckland is your stepping stone to achieving the amazing.

By choosing the University of Auckland you will gain a qualification from a world-ranked university. You can be confident that your kete will be filled with the knowledge and expertise you need to support our tamariki to succeed and become confident global citizens.
