Public lecture: Changing perspectives on Autism Spectrum Disorder

Date: 8 August 2019

Speaker: Professor Anothony Bailey, Professor and Chair of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Institute of Mental Health Chair at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver.

Historically autism was considered a rare disorder, but nowadays prevalence is approaching 2 percent. The genetics of the condition have turned out to be far more complicated than previously supposed, which raises questions about our conceptualisation of the condition. In his lecture, Professor Anthony Bailey talked about how these factors and emerging evidence have led to a need for change in our perspective of ASD.
