Parental values and child health outcomes in ethnic communities

We are talking with parents about the values of gender and health in within New Zealand's ethnic communities.

What's involved?

There will be one 60 minute semi-structured face-to-face interview regarding health issues faced by girls/women and boys/men from ethnic communities. The interview will be conducted in English or in an Asian/Ethnic language of your preference. This can be conducted at a place and time that is suitable to you.

Some of the topics we cover include:

  • Traditional values and gender inequity
  • Impact of migration
  • Perceptions of pregnancy and childbirth
  • Gendered barriers to health care access

Eligibility criteria

We are looking to interview women and men from ethnic communities who have:

  • only one girl child under the age of 5 years

or

  • two or more children and their youngest child is under the age of 5 years
