Understanding human muscle cellular function

Are you interested in knowing what your physical fitness is like? We are looking for participants to take part in a clinical study at Grafton Campus.

What's involved?

This study involves two 1 hour visits to Grafton Campus.

The first visit will require you to perform a VO2 max to determine your fitness level and to test if you are eligible to take part in the study. There will also be a strength test and get a DEXA scan to determine your body composition. This visit can happen at any time during the day and you do not need to be fasted.

The second visit will happen at least 72 hours after the first to allow the muscles to rest. This will require you to come early in the morning (usually around 7-8am) to take a fasting blood and muscle sample. To collect the muscle sample, a medical professional will perform a small sterile surgical procedure on your leg. There will be local anaesthesia to prevent you from feeling pain.

At the end of the study, you will be compensated with a $50 Westfield or MTA voucher for your time and effort.
