Saswata came to New Zealand for his doctoral study after hearing great reviews about the University of Auckland - a decision he doesn't regret at all.
“I did my master degree at the University of Calcutta, in India. Later, after gathering corporate healthcare experience for quite few years, I decided to go back to further my studies.
“My family encouraged me to apply to foreign universities. I had heard of Auckland as a beautiful place with a good academic climate. The University of Auckland also has an international ranking that seemed pretty alluring.
“Since I got a thumbs up from this great place, I decided to take this ahead and have never looked back.

“My thesis investigates the triangle which is made by young adults, social media and their numerous interaction about food. Research on social media is in its infancy and to cope up with the pace, growing research contributions are needed.
“I hope to do further research and contribute meaningfully towards the upcoming area of social media and its association with the different aspects of human life, food in particular. I want to be able to publish articles related to my current topic that have a strong practical focus and are based on scientific theories."
