Venue: Maclaurin Chapel Hall

Location: 18 Princes Street

Join CDES for this two-day programme, designed for PhD candidates who are considering employment within R&D and related areas. This programme will help you understand industry needs and how you can prepare for industry-based roles.

A representative from Callaghan Innovation will kōrero about the broader opportunities available and the government’s commitments to grow the industry.

A range of other speakers, who have worked in research and development and more broadly within commercial laboratories, will provide insights into what they value in prospective employees and collaborators.

Within supplementary sessions you will learn how to promote your research through social media, develop a professional CV and approach potential employers.

At the end of the programme you will have:

  • Identified the necessary steps to find relevant employment in R&D.
  • A greater awareness of what you can offer.
  • Designed an approach for contacting employers and collaborators.
  • Understood what potential collaborators and employers expect from a candidate.
