Regardless of what you are studying, exciting opportunities could be waiting for you in the Transport Industry. Transport roles are available to many disciplines – not just for engineers. On Tuesday 29 May, CDES is partnering with Transportation Group New Zealand to bring insider experts from top employers straight to you at the Transportation Group Careers Event.

It’s no secret that the Transport Industry is moving fast: a role in the field could help shape the future of transportation in New Zealand. The event will feature a panel of speakers from a range of backgrounds and qualifications, who will be sharing the paths that led to their careers in transport, plus the day-to-day realities of their current roles. Bring your questions, because you might discover a career you would never have considered before!

  • Anthony Leung, Planner and GIS Analyst , MRCagney
    Anthony is a Planner at MRCagney who works on projects in New Zealand and Australia in the fields of resource management planning, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), public transport planning, and strategic transport planning. At MRCagney, Anthony has led and carried out GIS analyses, planning and mapping for a number of public transport and active transport projects in cities in New Zealand, Australia, and further abroad. These projects encompass the development of new bus, rail and active transport networks or involve their evaluation and redesign.

  • Sian Spear, Transport Planning Consultant, AECOM
    After two years working in the Birmingham, UK office, Sian is now working as part of the Supporting Growth Alliance to develop a cohesive transport network for the Auckland region over the next 30 years of planned development. During her time in the Birmingham office, Sian worked on walking and cycling strategy projects as well as projects that required the use of transport modelling and data analytics software such as SPECTRUM and Saturn.
  • Shaun Hamilton, Environmental Planner, GHD
    Shaun is a motivated planning officer, consultant and project manager with five years’ post-graduate experience. This consists of three years in the NZ consulting industry and two years development control experience in London-based Borough Councils. Shaun is experienced in managing major applications from both applicant and Local Authority perspectives. Has held a range of roles in projects, showing a proactive approach in providing both advice and deliverable's.

After the panel, stay for free pizza and to connect with the presenters and industry professionals, who represent top New Zealand transport employers. This event is designed to introduce you to the Transport Industry, but employers may have summer internships or part-time employment opportunities available, so come prepared.
