Vice-Chancellor's Student Support Fund

If you are a high performing student representing the University or New Zealand, you can apply to receive financial assistance through the Vice Chancellor’s Student Support Fund.

About the support fund

The support fund provides financial assistance to students who are competing and achieving at the highest levels– from dance to debating, mathematics to mentoring, screen production to statistics.

The fund is available to students who have been selected to represent New Zealand or The University of Auckland and need financial support for travel, accommodation and other costs associated with attending national or international events.

You will normally receive notification of the outcome within 5 working days of your application.

  • Six members of the Auckland University Robotics Association, to compete in the VEX Robotics World Championships in Louisville, Kentucky.
  • Eva Ding, to attend the Orford Music Academy in Quebec, Canada.
  • Michael Merry and Anita Austin, to play with the NZSO National Youth Orchestra in Wellington and Auckland.
  • Alistair Harris, Judith Glasson, and Peter Wills, to attend the International Genetics Engineering Machine Foundation jamboree in Boston, Massachusetts.


  • Amy Chang and Chelsea Numanga, to travel with the NZ Youth Choir for their landmark European tour.
  • Arnold Lee and Lawrence Wong, to compete in the George Enescu International Piano Competition in Bucharest, Romania.
  • Irene Saxby, to attend the International Genetic Engineering Machine competition in Boston, MA.
