Aims

  • To conduct a literature survey on biodegradable intra-articular implants.
  • To design an intra-articular implant using a computer aided design software (CAD).
  • To 3D print the implant using polymers such as: poly lactic acid (PLA) and polycaprolactone (PCL) with model drugs such as: lidocaine and dexamethasone.
  • To characterise the developed implants with respect to: morphology, uniformity of drug content, thermodynamic properties, mechanical properties and drug release profile.
