Matthew Trundle Visiting Lectureship Fund
A fund to honour Matthew’s life, work, and legacy.
Matthew was passionate about both people and Classics. Always an active traveller and participant at conferences, as well as a convivial host to visiting scholars, Matthew worked tirelessly to connect Classics and Ancient History in New Zealand to the wider academic community.
After Matthew passed away on 12 July the University of Auckland received an anonymous donation of $10,000 in his memory to seed a biennial ‘Matthew Trundle Visiting Lectureship’. This lectureship would bring in an international academic to give public lectures at both the University of Auckland and the Victoria University of Wellington and, if funds allow, the Universities of Canterbury and Otago.
All money raised will be used to support the biennial visit of an academic in Classics and Ancient History to present public lectures.
